AWWA Guitar Ensemble
Every Saturday, Clique will go ACCESS for guitar practice from 11-12.30pm.
AWWA Guitar Ensemble was founded as a "club" in February 2008, by Janice. It has then been expanding, and now we have a total of about 15 clients in the guitar group.
AWWA Guitar Ensemble was founded to take a step forward to the development and scouting of music talent in AWWA. It is aimed to provide opportunities for disabled clients to showcase their talent through the playing of guitar.
The team is coached by 2 volunteery teachers, namely Daniel and Justin. They have consistently helped us to improve our guitar skills and give us some important advice on how we can improve. We feel very priviledged to be guided by them.
I was elected as guitar coordinator by Janice to help her in calling the clients for guitar practice every week, and also responsible for motivating them for perfornances among others.
This coming August this year, we are slated to turn out for the Special Awards 2009. For the performance, we are practicing to play the song entitled Cannon.
My team consists of :
Amanda, Shawn, Ting Jun, Yuan Ping, Jonathon, Sharman.
In preparation for the upcoming Special Awards performance, the team would stay back after the official guitar practice, to continue to hon our guitar skills.
We would have lunch together before we would proceed to the nearby void deck to continue practice. We would grouo up together and play as a team, with each assigned a role to play in the song.
As guitar coordinator, I am very impressed by the progress made by the whole team. Though they started and adapted slowly, they still perservered to learn and also practice more.
In addition, some of them have consistently and continuously been standout performers, namely Jonathon and Yuan Ping.
They have been slow adapters, and sometimes they would stumble while playing. But yet despite them, they still continue to practice, and have shown to be revelations in the team.
I hope to build on great team of guitarists that can go on stage to showcase their talents and abilty, despite all disabilities.
