Saturday, 19 September 2009Saturday is clique day, the best day of the week in my opinion...
Last week I didnt go for lesson coz was recovering from fever, then in the end they play games rather than practicing guitar, as there wasnt any teachers in their presence...
So this week went back to guitar practice, as usual meet shawn then go ACCESS together. It was raining heavily, Yuan brought us umbrellas, but by the time we went in for practice, 2 strings broke from shawn's guitar, while my tuning knob also broke, maybe because i fell on the way...
So went there, SPARKZ practice ended, then HuiQi they all stay back play some board games, while the guitar practice resumed. Both teachers came, Justin taught me and amanda different skills, while Daniel guided the rest. Justin showed the both of us the correct method of playing chords, and also in due corrected our holding of the back of the guitar board with our thumb. It seems that my holding of the guitar is kinda wrong i tink, dunno whether Amanda's technique is right (amanda, if your technique is right, can guide me please=p, i think my technique needs some correction).
Justin also teached us a few "simple" fingering exercise to allow us to progress further in the near future. So, is like got homework, to practice consistently to get my basic skills and techniques right first, before think of progressing up to another level. Justin also gave the whole team the notes of the chorus of the Cannon in D playing piece. With that, amanda and me was the most interested to try and learn the new tabs of the Cannon in D chorus, but it seems it is kind of difficult, so like last time where we can change note by note based on timing liao. So in such cases, it is like giving the both of us the challenge of trying the new skill, and hopefully can elevate us to the next level. So, Justin asked us practice "barring", which he says that it is of vital importance that we master the "barring" technique. In the case of Cannon in D, we have to practice barring the first 3 strings on the 2nd fret....then we tried practicing what he taught us, though for now is still to no avail (I believe in my star player that if she can, I also can).
After practicing chords and also the new techniques, we play combine for Cannon in D, just like the performance in Special Awards, for one round. Admittedly, I felt it was poor overall, not quite the standard we had set a few months before for Special Awards during extra practices. Being truthful, I was very disappointed with my performance, amd also the performance of the whole team. There wasnt consistency in the timing of the song, and some of us also pressed the wrong notes at the wrong time, probably due to the fact that we havent practice playing this piece of music for quite some time liao..
After guitar lesson, amanda gtg liao, said bye to star player, then go lunch at Yishun then went back home for a while...
Then in the evening, I had a fun-filled evening going out with my whole family. We went Chintown there to celebrate the the Mid-Autumn Festival. Wrnt to meet my brother at Chinatown MRT while he come back from school. Had chicken rice for early dinner, then walked around, also saw the dragon dance performance there, than later in the night, my parents brought us to eat ice cream. We ordered mango, durian and soursop flavour, it was very delicious after which we went home. I enjoy the outing with family alot.

Guitar is getting tougher liao, as the difficulty level arises, I tink it really is a test of how far I have come after playing the guitar for almost more than a year already. It is true test of my own personal drive and motivation to continue practice guitar... Moreover, I tink that learning guitar needs patience and drive, motivation de. Without it, it will even be much harder to want to play guitar, or rather is impossible....if one is unmotivated to practice, one wont practice and this one cannot progress to the next level..
